And that cycle of rushes and crashes has a similar effect—you end up wanting more sugar so that you can experience the rushes while you are fending off the crashes.

Plenty of studies suggest that excessive social media use can damage a person’s self-esteem, increase levels of anxiety, and subject users to misinformation about many important topics—including issues related to health and well-being.
